The small village of Gimmelwald is sprinkled up the slant of an imposing mountainside high up in the Swiss Alps.

For those searching for grand views, crisp mountain air and an excuse to be outdoors, Gimmelwald doesn't disappoint.

It doesn't take visitors long to appreciate the saying, "If Heaven isn't what it's cracked up to be, send me back to Gimmelwald."

The Rhine River is Germany's longest river. The fertile river valley was settled early in German history.
